    Cakewalk

    Hi

I still use Cakewalk home studio which is years old but so easy to do all the things you are looking for.

    Hope this helps.

I think midi orchestator by voyetra is pretty good, actually. I don't know if they give it for free on their web site

for making midis into sheet music, id have to recommend midinotate <http://www.notationsoftware.com>. its a great program, and has the bonus of being shareware as opposed to the others, so you get a free trial of 30 days (though you can only print the first page after 14 days).

I use Cubase SX. It's a bit expensive, but you get great midi and audio editing features.

I am partial to Encore, I believe 4.5 is the newest version. It's nothing special, but gets the job done nicely.

I use cubase vst (in college) and cakewalk at home. Both are pretty damn good.

Cakewalk has to be one of the easiest and best programs to use when editing midi files. You can get very detailed and go way beyond most basic midi editing programs.

I use Cakewalk Pro. It's user friendly and fairly powerful. Other programs do fine, but I like the ease of use and many powerful editing tools.
