    Hi Guys,
I'm looking for some suggestions for songs i could play down in the local pub for a singalong....no amps or microphones, just sit down and start playing. I've got quite a few already but any new ideas would be welcome (It can be anything at all...The Beatles to Metallica, i don't mind)

    Thanks all :)

I'm not exactly expecting a truckload of replies here so just to make it interesting i'll donate $1000MB to anyone who suggests a song i can use.

:p How about something like American Pie by Don Mclean, anything by John Cougar like "Hurts So Good", "Jack and Diane" or "Pink Houses"

used to play stuff like "Spanish Train" by Chris DeBurgh and it worked cos it was different than the usual

if I think of some more will post for sure

"American Pie" was always a great one acoustically
Also did "The Unicorn" which was required to play in a Irish Pub circuit here in Canada

"Stuck In The Middle" by Steeler's Wheel

Any Neil Diamond.....it funny when people join in on the shots to "Sweet Caroline"

You could try to do a version of "Over The Rainbow / What A Wonderful World" by Isreal Kamakawiwo'Ole.

    I dunno..... :confused2

Will add more as time goes on....

I always liked to do Belle and Sebastian "I'm a Cukcoo." "Always look on the Bright Side of Life" Monty Python always goes down a storm and I did an acoustic version of Brittney Spears "Opps I did it again!"

    :D

Sorry, gotta revive the thread because I have what I think is an excellent suggestion.

You Never Even Called Me By My Name--David Allan Coe.

This would go over even in Ireland. What you have to understand is that you're actually mocking American country music--tongue-in-cheek and all that rot.

When you get to the part "You Don't Have to Call Me Darlin'" everybody stomps in the pause...

It goes "You Don't Have To Call Me Darlin'...stomp....stomp...stomp...Darlin'",

Another crowd participation part is when you sing the line "I'll hang around as long as you will let me", everyone shouts "LET ME! LET ME! LET ME!"

There are myriad other things you can put in as well, i.e. shouting the last words of the last line of the verse, etc. And you can't get simpler than this. In fact, he performs this live from time to time as an acoustic solo, I believe.
