Does anybody know the benefits of using AES audio?
I'm interested in hearing about different set ups using AES/EBU if anyone would like to share thanks! Also if you're looking into running AES/EBU audio over long distances.. up to a few miles , it can be done over fiber optics.
Also if anyone is looking to run midi signals beyond 50ft you will need to find a midi line driver/repeater..extender etc.. search google for extending midi for options.
Midi over CAT5 cable works verywell for extending midi signals up to 1000ft. or more!
Anyone need to run AES/EBU for audio or video long distance?

The product uses AES over Fiber Optics very cool!
One good example is of a theater that is sending AES audio over Fiber directly to it's onsite recording studio.
If anyone else has experience with this please let me know.
Another cool product is a Fiber Optic Midi extension system. midiextender makes this.
Interesting article at midiextender website (application notes)
According to a stage technician from a touring production company, audio run between sources and amplifier rooms, broadcast remote bays, etc. can be very long. Over 1000ft.
