Which is the best one out there? I currently have Norton.
I never truely used Norton or Mcafee, but I've seen a little of what they are like...
Personally, I use Trend Micro Internet Security (Previously named PC-cillin)
PC-cillin is great software I can tell you it's great and has a Simplified, yet advanced Interface, but I can't compare to others since I don't use them.
The best free scanner/remover in my opinion is Grisoft's AVG Anti-Virus.
AVG Resident Protection
AVG e-mail Scanner
AVG On-Demand Scanner
Basic Scheduled Tests
Free Virus Database Updates
Automatic Update feature
Automatic Healing of infected files
AVG Virus Vault for safe handling of infected files
I usually use norton cause i can find the updates easily but as far as i know also the other options are pretty functional
a copy of Norton with the latest updates is hard to beat!
Best one I have used for last 5 years is Norton (currently Professional 2004) and it stops the nasties. Currently getting 3 viruses a day on my isp provider (NTL) with the Dumaru virus. Norton kills it dead!
They love AVG because its free, but its not gonna take out any spyware that norton does.
I go with norton because it gets the job done quick and painlessly
Both McAfee and Norton's are good.
I have PC-Cillin by Trend Micro (c)
I think its good. if it finds an update in the internet it requests what to do. so you are always up to date and its not too... how can i say... well it dont get not on your nerves.
i know some programs that give a warning on every little **** from that you know its no virus.
I prefer Norton Antivirus too...
I'm just not sure if it's the best. But everyone recommends it... and it's quite populair.
the best antivirus is kaspersky version 4.
I use Panda
Panda uses spam to get their product name out. I've learned to hate them for that reason.
Norton Internet Secuirty 2004 is all that I'll ever need.
I currently use AVG Anti-virus Pro.
Notron Anti-virus had came with our computer. When we got infected, Norton started screwing up. The virus was supposed to delete the Windows folder files, but it didn't. After the virus got removed, we continued to have problems. We had a friend come check the computer out. As it turns out, Norton, thinking that the Windows files itself were viral, had begun trying to delete them, abviously not able to do so. So, Norton corrupted my system files, and we had reboot the computer from scratch. Like we bought it from Dell, so all of our drivers and our OS were easy to reinstall.
Then, I found AVG, and now we will continue to use it.
Yeah, I had the same problem. *pulls out an old log*
Let's see, according to Norton, my SmartCard reader driver was added as a result of the Mofei.B virus, scanregw is infected with Nerte, Master, Stator, and GWGhost, (this is hilarious) Systray is the Bigfoot virus, Rundll32 was installed by the cabro, loxoscam, tofazzol, AND the miroot virii ALL AT ONCE (given reason: rundll.exe exists in place of rundll32 <- incorrect), And my Creative Taskbar is actually a corrupt Sapphire ATI overclocking program that could destroy the integrity of the currently installed computer hardware. Yup, I'm not in favor of Norton one little bit.
Norton made me some big problems -.- Grisoft's AVG Anti-Virus is in my opinion the best one
Also, a warning to future Norton customers: DO NOT install the program to disk! Always use it from the CD only, for when you start having problems with it, chances are in favor that you will not be able to uninstall it! I don't know what they were thinking when they wrote the program uninstall utility, for it is rarely successful at its reputed task.
