I hope someone can give me advice. I started off using my PCs sound card for playing midi and it sounded O.K, then I moved on to the Roland Virtual Sound Canvas 88 and thought this was good then I bought a Yamaha Tone Generator 100 and it great, but I want to improve because the guitars dont sound very real on the Yamaha TG100. What can I move on to for great sounds. Please advise me.

Soundfonts are great, if you're setup for that.
I still prefer the concept of keeping my "sequencer" and my sound module separate.

Modular is generally easier to upgrade or replace, down the road.

There are many newer units these days that have ass-kicking (or at least much better) guitar sounds:
I'm in love with the Triton Rack, but it will cost you around $1000 (USD) on eBay.
