do you record audio parts along with the midi? sometimes I record bass audio and it gives the program a lot of punch and is more realistic.

Hi gpercy. do you know where to get good effects plugins. do you even use the plugins? and, do you use compression for the final mix down? if so which one?

I use Cakewalk Pro and Sonar for Midi, and do all my audio in Cool Edit Pro. May be an unnecessary extra step, but it works well for me.

it's too bad our cakewalk audio/midi files are too big to post because they make incredible backup for live performances. we're talkin' some megabytes!

i like cubase too. it has better effects and compression. it's a little harder to use though. i have vst 32 for mac but i think i'm going to switch to PC pretty soon. the mac has been very stable but is not as compatible.
