I am totally new to this CD buring business. I was wondering how long it takes to burn a CD. How does an image work? Once I have an image, can I burn it to have a fully working copy of a CD? Can this be used to backup software you bought like games and windows programs? I heard that CloneCD is one of the best out there so I'm trying out this program first. Thanks for any replies.

Yes. The time it takes to burn depends on the speed of your burner (and the speed you set the program to.)
It takes about half an hour in 24x (as far as I can remember), but you have to copy the CD first which can take from 15 to 30 minutes as well.
An image is a file containing the whole CD, of which the program uses to write into the new CD. You can keep the image on your computer, to burn several copys of the same CD without reading it from the CD first.
It is also possible to burn directly (if you have two cd-roms). This means that it does not create an image.

The nice thing about CloneCD is that it does NOT copy a CD. It reads it, and burns what it reads. That means that a copy-protection on the CD will (or might) be surpassed, and it will not be a problem for the burning-prosess.

I hope this can of any help.

Clonecd is by far one of the best cd copy programs out there the only problem is that now they are shutting down the cloned cd program and focusing on the clonedvd program due to legal issues. The rogram can still be found you just have to look.

If you are going to copy protected cds I suggest you to download clonyXXL, alcoholer multiprofiler and alcohol 120%. With these progz you can copy anything, from Safedisc 2.9 to PS2 to Protected AudioCD. Also if you choose CloneCD, ClonyXXL and Alcoholer are very useful for set the read/write mode!!!

    Duh!

I found Alcohol 120% difficult to use. Do you know a site that I can visit that would provide some explanation as to how to use the program?
