How do you create midis? Do you need a keyboard, or can you do it on the computer?

You first need a program... www.anvilstudio.com has a decent free one. You can drag/drop notes onto a staff in the compose mode and therefore do not need a MIDI controlling keyboard. Some of the very-successful composers on MB do not use a piano-type keyboard.

You can look around the general sequencing forum (to which I moved your thread) for a lot more information on the subject.

Unless your skilled or at least understand sequencing its going to be hard to change a wav or a mp3 file to MIDI without it sounding horrific when your done.

Converting streaming audio files is NOT how MIDI files are created.
