can someone recommend a decent midi player that only plays midi files?
I really like Roland VCS and it's not really expensive!
no idea, didn't realise there was much of a difference from player to player as they would all use the same soundbank? but i'm probably wayyy wrong
i use so much midi players.
Midi players can usually play many types of audio files. There are many out there mostly freeware.
just use a default player
software or hardware player? for software, roland Vsc is the best... for hardware, there are also Roland MIDI Players which has a built-in floppy drive for you to play MIDIs on disks!
just use the default
Man there are some trash posts here. babysham i cant think of a player that just does midi only. I would reccomend you have a look at vanbasco's player. http://www.vanBasco.com
I use Winamp 2.91 with the 2.x MIDI plugin, because it is capable of dynamically loading individual parts of a SoundFont. This is especially important if you have limited memory. I have 149MB max SoundFont cache, but Crisis GM v1.8 (250MB) plays perfectly with Winamp's MIDI capabilities. You can also send Sysex commands live while the MIDI is playing!
I use WinJammer 32 for all my midi needs. It's not the best, that's for sure, but it's all I really need. It plays midi files fine.
I used to use Winamp but I always get error messages and crashes.
I have VanBasco karaoke player as mid player, i like it.
