I am not using the J Station but I am using the Vamp-2 (with ProToolsFree)

    The Vamp-2 is very quiet.

I had previously been using a Vox ValveTronix Amp line out. An excellent sounding amp but it had a very noisy lineout.

The "hiss" out of the Vamp-2 was almost nonexistent.

    Hope this helps

The J station is crystal clear through the digital(s-pdif)output.
Does the V-amp 2 have a digital out?

No, the Vamp-2 has an analog L and R stereo output.
