I think that a lot of the reason for the increase in file-sharing has to be due to the hikes in prices for CDs nowadays where they are disproportionately priced to other items. For example a music CD can cost you £15 or £4 for a single, I mean some sites like www.cdwow.com can sell you a disc at £8 which is a decent buy but frankly there are also a large rise in the amount of *&*&*&*&ty 'fillers' on the average disc that I hate spending money on discs I may listen to once or twice then crop the good tracks to burn a compilation.

Buymusic.com and itunes are both great for actual purchase of files.

I kinda got scared about the whole thing with RIAA and i went and bought a few cds, which i weren't dissapoint about. Now i just download the songs see if i like the songs or not, so if i do like it i might go out and buy the album. It all depends on this though $$$$

Well, if you don't like all the 'fillers', as you call them, you can just buy the good songs as Mp3 files, over the internet...thats fully legal, no problem in that...

I use Kazaa Lite but mostly for videos than audio as of late. The whole RIAA scare put me off, but I'll occasionally look for a single track, not a whole album. If I like an artist and their album (not just a track or two), I'll buy the CD.

Yeah, i seen a link sayin something like "napster's back" in big letters, so i clicked on it, and i got a plain page with the napster icon on it and a "download now" option.

Didn't downloads it though as i use kazaa lite, and not as many people will have downloaded it yet.

I do download music from time to time but my hard-drive is small so this is not something I can do a lot of even with my broadband connection:(

However, have been known to download the odd tune or 10 at work as the machine is far better, lol:p

Used to use Morpheous at home but now only use Kazza at work

When I download stuff, I use WinMX. Kazaa gave my system too much trouble with it's pop-up ads.
