it doesn't matter if ur a girl or a guy to be good at drums. i agree that there aren't that many girl drummers around, but that doesn't mean they aren't good. it just depends on how u drum.

You forgot the option, "Girl drummers rock way BETTER than the guys, plus they take the time to learn the music too!" - I'm only being too literal! ;) I think girls are just as good as boys...why are people so sexist?

I've had a few female drummers play for me... I can't say there are too many well known female drummers out there... a few that come to mind Sheila Esposito, Susie Ibarra, Maureen Tucker, the drummer from the Go-Go's (sorry, can't think of her name), Meg from the White Stripes?... also, a few other all-female bands Veruca Salt, Luscious Jackson, Sleater-Kinney... Chicago based names there... anyway, there should be more. I don't see a reason why not?

girl drummers kick @§§! but guys n girls are equally good. drummers definately have the most fun out of any band member and we are the coolest! <<louder is better>>

Sex is unimportant, TALENT is the key!!

I would actually love to jam with a female drummer, but being in Newfoudland doesn't afford me alot of occasion.

    Keep Poudin'

As a (male) drummer, I got a lot of inspiration by listening to female drummers... there's someting different in their playing - a particular sensibility in the touch... It's just less common, so it becomes interresting.
Huh, except for one I heard - she played death metal f#"¬g fast, but so brutally... even worse than many male drummers (note : I don't really appreciate this kind of drumming)

OK I'm totally not sexist, I am a male drummer and yeah some female drummers are cool but some are total geeks, look at Caroline Corr, she gives you gals a bad name lol! Look out for a band called ***** Alert, my ex-band supported them.

Caroline Corr can play something like 25 instruments and sing. She's actually very talented. I've met some pretty geeky male drummers by the way. Three of my female friends are drummers and they're all excellent at what they do. I've seen better female drummers live than male drummers.

It depends of course in what kind of music you want to play.
It's very difficult for a girl to play fast brutal metal i.e.
I can't imagine a girl playing like Trym Torson from Emperor.

If you can play, it doesn't matter if you are a guy or girl. As long as you sound good, then rock on!

From experience, girls are musically on a par with men, but i've found that females can be more tempermental on the road and are prone to not wanting to lift much heavy gear. So all in all I don't think mixed bands work.
