When loading a midi into my music notation software, I recieved an error message saying that it was not a normal midi, but it still played in Winamp and Realplayer... any ideas? I have never encountered that before

Maybe The Midi That You Downloaded Was Karaoke. There Are Some Midis Files On The Net That Are Not Readable By Any Program.Winamp Can Open The File Because it Supports That Format And Because You Are Trying To Play The File,You Are Not Trying To Edit The File In Winamp.

If you use a program like Anvil Studio, it can read both karoke and midi. It should be able to convert one to another.
