I don't know really how to search this question, so I'll just ask it here and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction, sorry!

I'd like to make some backing tracks for my band...

How can I use an existing midi file, load it into a program like Cubase and attach voices to each midi track??? My guitarist does this on his Triton, but can u do this in a program on a laptop???

I suppose I'd need to get drum bass key and guitar sounds. Are these what they call soft synths??? And can you even do what I'm asking or am I totally lost???

Then, if all that is possible, can I use my laptop in a live situation, output it to a mixer and use Cubase to control each midi channel???

    Thanks for any help!!!

You can do what you ask in Ableton Live and Reason but not sure about cubase as i don't use it.

    Hey Nemo!

Ok I got Ableton Live. Now how the heck do I even open a midi file to tweak??? I've used many programs like this, but I just can't figure this simple step out! :wow:

    Thanks for help in advance!
