LOL! You knew I had to ask. Is this the first kit with the new shells that
you have received? If not, have you seen any difference in the shells? I am
    guessing they are identical.

    Hey Mark,

I must ask the question too. Why the 16? Love the tom sizes. I
guess two inches doesn't make much difference.

believe it or not , i have sold more 16 x 18 bass drum kits than the 14 x 18
    imho i think with the 16 x 18 you get a bit more focus but the 14 x 18 ha a
    more b bop/jazz sound
but gotta keep the troups happy and order what they want : )

I guess its about tradition for me. I like the old sizes. If I were
to increase the drum size I would go two inches on the diameter then
you can play basically all styles. Can you play rock and jazz with a
16x18? I think with a 20" you can do the rock thing and still get a
good jazz sound as well. I used to think the 22" bass drum was the
perfect size for everything. Now I think the 16x20 is the best size
to play everything. For strictly a Jazz kit it would be a 14x 18 for
me. The thing is i never play only one type of music that is why I
have to go to a 20. What does a Fibes kit like this list for?.

    shells

Wow! I think there must be some odd seismic disturbance going on. I actually
agree with Fell here. :) I would go with a 20x14 over the 20x16, but it is close
enough for Jazz! :) BTW, I have been using this 18x18 a bit more often. It can
get as fat a sound as a 20.

Didn't they actually buy the molds etc. from Jasper? Is that is the case, I
would expect them to be the same.

  10. They did not buy the molds from Jasper from what I understand.
They were in bad shape so they made new molds
