    hi all,

is it better to place a GM reset at the start or at the end of midi files?

    TIA and cheers,

Some place the reset at both ends of the file. I have no logic which way is more effective, so I usually just place it at the beginning.

I always send a reset at both the beginning and the end of my own files. That way, if you play something from an unknown source - and which has not been put together too well - you don't any surprises.

Agreed. Beginning and end of song is best.
Usually have it at the beginning along with any other exclusive messages.
