Know any good suggestions of a good sound card to record live music. I don't want any expensive equipment that is all commercialized.

Hi strider17 do you want to record live music from the internet or an actual live gig?

    Soundblaster

While I have never used it for live recording, the soundblaster LIVE is a great card

Any 16-bit Soundblaster or compatible might work sufficiently, if latency is no problem!

Get a laptop and a Digi 002. Great setup for live recording. At least in my opinion...

I've owne the LIVE! and now the Audigy, my brother has the Audigy 2...and both kill the live! especially in latency... apparently there are hacks out there that lower latency below 10ms...

I agree with riceman, finn and tonymac the Creative Soundblaster Audigy or Audigy 2 is fantastic. Have used Audigy with the breakout box for live recording guitars vocals into Cubase 5 VST and the latency is less than 7ms if you tweak in the VST program. Prices have come down recently as new Audigy 2 takes over.
