This is your first time posting on Usenet, isn't it? The regulars of the
groups you spammed have formed a solid opinion of GC, based on years of
    experience.

You probably don't give a damn about your customers or serving them in a
positive manner. You just wanna gets paid. And spamming is a lot cheaper
than reaching out with a real advertising campaign or building customer
loyalty (traits that'll get you fired from GC every time).

I can give away something free before you open too: Don't shop at GC.

    Hey all,
Lighten up...this guy's come in, dumped his load, and left. He won't
be reading any responses to his ad. He's too busy at the big annual
Labor Day sale, then he has to worry about the big annual
post-Labor-Day sale, followed by the big annual Back-To-School sale,
then there's the big annual pre-Halloween sale...

    Little cards that say,

"None of the sh!t in our ads is actually in the store and even if it
was, you're only allowed to buy 1, like the $29 drum overhead mics
we baited you with. And all our sale prices aren't any better than
you would normally pay at a music store that wasn't infested with a
corporate mentality. Oh yeah, would you like to buy a $20 extended
warrantee on that seven dollar mic cable?"

  6. Congratulations, Mike. You said it perfectly.

    I suggest everyone go to
    http://www.guitarcenter.com/feedback/feedback_java.shtml and send a
complaint email to GC's management about this Orlando idiot.

Man, I haven't seen so much whining since the Fender thread!

Some of you don't want to shop at GC, that's fine. I've had nothing
but good experiences shopping at the big chain stores like Sam Ash and
Mars. A hell of a lot better experiences than shopping at locally
owned stores. GC and Ash are in business because their owners were a
little bit smarter than everyone else, so don't take it out on them
because of it. Though I'm not crazy about them spamming the
newsgroups, I welcome this new store and hope that they can do
everything that the locally owned stores couldn't do.
  8. I'm sure all the stores do good enough business... imagine what they'd do
with good or better yet GREAT customer service?

I have to admit, though, while my experiences at the local store haven't all
been great, I don't have too hard a time. I actually got a REAL discount one
time, because there was ONE guy on the drum floor, and he was dealing with a
trade-in, and it fricking took 45 minutes (15 minutes PAST closing) to get
to me. That was the worst, but I didn't have anything better to do so that's
    why I didn't 'just leave'.

No, it was no joke. The original ad/post had a numeric phone
number; someone then quoted it and adulterated the text to read
"RIP-OFFS". Looks like authentic spam. I can't see why anyone
would be surprised that GC would do such a thing, but I do hope
it costs them a few potential customers. Spam sucks, especially
    from those who know better.

Smart = Ruthless? :) If they get any smarter, they'll end up
    like Mars.

This was crossposted, so you're missing a little history on the rmmp
end of things. My parody was linked to a thread we has a while back
about chain stores and their false advertising. How they send post
cards telling you they have $3 mic cords and $19 boom stands. Then
you show up at at 7am, wait in line for an hour, get to checkout and
they are mysteriously "sold-out' of them. Or they suddenly have a
2-per limit that wasn't mentioned on the mailer. And then their
"incredible" and "once a year" prices that are only 2 percent lower
that normal prices or even higher, only to show up again in another
"only time!" sale, 3 weeks later.

And how about the "extended warrantees' that are shorter than the
    original manufacturer's?

I'm all better now. It's all good. I love you, man. :)

My favorite scam is actually advertising a decent price on a Fender,
for example, but then claiming that the case costs extra...even though
Fender sells them with cases and includes the case price in their
    MSRP.

When I worked at GC (in the warehouse) they had us take all the new
guitars, separate them from the case, and then we would throw away the
straps, picks, cables, slides, polishing cloths, etc. All the misc crap that
all the major guitar manufacturers send along for free with the guitar so
that you would have to buy them separately. Consequently, I have (or at
least *had*) hundreds of cheap cables, straps, picks, slides, polishing
cloths, etc, laying around my house. I also have an old Ibanez display that
is basically a display stand for 6 electric guitars. I used to keep my
guitars on it, but they used that damn corrosive rubber on it and it started
eating the finish off my guitar necks.
