Piano, because I suck at guitar (can't strum right). :p Also, it's easier for me to pick up sheet music than tabs.

I think the piano sounds nicer, that's why I chose it. Guitar can sound really sexy in the right hands though. My brother is one of those people, well to me anyways.

I also play both, but started guitar first. I have to say I play classical guitar but mess about with electric and bass. I started playing guitar a while ago but have spent ages getting nowhere (i tend to practice guitar instead of piano!) I find really that it's hard to adapt to one from the other, we're not compatible!

if you are a music freak..take both...taking a piano will enhance your bsic skills like how to transpose or compose songs better...when you think you have had enough practie wif the piano..go for the guitar,..but if you dun have enuff money for both..go take theory lessons for piano and practical for guitar

    piano, for sure

i've been playing piano for 5 years and it sounds heaps better than a guitar. It's much harder to pick up but after a few years, u can do a whole lot more with it.

Although, if u can sing, a guitar is really cool for accompaniment. I can't sing, but.

Problem with the piano is, it costs too much to get music for it. I'm finding that i have to get mine from the US coz they've got a wider selection and sometimes its even cheaper but u have to pay shipping and handling

Any tips on where u can get sheet music in Australia?

    thanx, PIANO ROCKS

Both! And any other instrument I can get my hands on. I began on Piano and then picked up guitar on my own. Piano is the easiest of the two. I'm not certain which I prefer I can't really decide.

    Guitar if you are impatient

I find the guitar to have a much steeper learning curve that the piano/keyboard. It is quicker to learn chords to a tune on the guitar. But when you control the piano/keyboard, you can sound like a whole band all by yourself.

My two sons started out on each of the instruments, and the guitarplayer was much faster able to sound "professionally". Though now, after 5 years - the piano player also sounds remarkably good.

My other experience is that if you start out on the piano, it is easier to swap to any instrument later (saxophone, trumpet, flute, bass etc.), than with a guitar only background.

I play both but I like guitar more because stringed instruments come easier to me lol. You can do more with guitar too and take it places :)
