Hard ware vs Software any Opinions?
I think soundcards are good value because if you already have a decent pc you can get solid midi playback, wav recording, cd/dvd/mp3 playback etc. If you invest in a good pair of monitors you will enjoy that quality of sound using your pc as an entertainment system as well as a budget "home studio".
On the other hand, midi sequencer boxes are handy because they are portable, take no time to boot up, and give you instant access to your files to jam along with. I find this handy because I try to actually play for an hour or two before I switch on the PC and start messing around with stuff.
Maybe it depends whether you are more interested in wav editing, using samples, and production; or wanting to have a tool that gives instant support for jamming, which you could take with you to gigs at some point.
