HELP! Rack synth w. arpeggiator?

Discussion in 'comp.music.midi' started by Richard Rodenhiser, Jul 26, 2003.

  1. I'm using a Roland XP50 (older model). I want to MIDI to a rack synth (sound
module) - to get more layered sounds, additional patches, etc.

Is there a good module out there that will ALSO give me arpeggiator
capabilities (the XP50 does not have an onboard arpeggiator)?

I'd prefer something used - in the interest of keeping the price low.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

Look for a 2nd hand Emu XL-1 module or any of the other ones with
    "SuperBeats" arpeggiator.

    Thanks Dominic!
    I'll look into that.

Though the EMU sounds like precisely what you're looking for, note that
Reason (the software) has ye olde arpeggiators (two or more I think)
which are quite advanced. Sequencers, to speak precisely.

In addition to that Reason also has softsynth and softsamplers. The
way we will all be going, undoubtedly, in the future, rather than
    rack-mounts.
