If you want to know the amount of ticks for a 120 beat per minute, you have to know the base ticks per beats. In Cakewalk you can click on "Options" then "Project Options" where you can redefine the amount of ticks, kindof like redefining the bitrate to an mp3 so it won't change the file, just allows you to more accurately place the notes if you want it to sound more like a band, then a low tick rate file. 240 or 480 is fairly common. If it were 240 for example, and you having a 120 beat, that's 2 beats a second, one beat being 240, so you'd have 480 ticks per second. Viewing the timecode in a file you can switch between timecodes as Minutes/Seconds, Beat, or Tick numbers. You can also stretch files to fit to a time signature, so a file being 1,000,000 ticks makes it a little easier to find a more accurate ratio to getting it to fit on the beats before you quarantize it to magnetize to the beat mark designated. Hope that helps
