There must be some bands out there that use midis and how do they feel about it?
yeh that is a good question, i don't no.
I use midi files when i sing, but u need to find half decent ones
been using midi live for over ten years and aside from saving money on the obvious, i now have meter that can hear a drummer waver in three beats!!! run the lights, effects on vocals and guitars,no miking, less gear, quicker setup and teardown.
Yep...we use them all the time but you do need good quality. The only problem we ever had was a floppy disk full of tracks getting corrupted but we always have spares
yea I use the midi as my drummer and bass player it works pretty well
and we take spare disks too, those dam mobile phones will corrupt a midi quicker than a red shirt in a laundry load full of whites yes I just made that one up then
we use midi's for our two duos' covering everything from rock & roll to country and top 40. Absolutely love them. Live in an area starved for committed muso's so hubby plays bass, I play rhythm and sing, and the midi's do the rest.
Using a yamaha mu-128, then record onto computer hard drive through cool edit. Then I dump each nights show down onto MD through netmd setup. Fits about 40 songs on a disk, I have found this to be very reliable, and sounds great. Lot less chace of coruptin files, damaged disks, no chance of skipping, and I can leave my expensive sound module safe at home.
Midi's rule, but floopy disks just don't cut it for me.....
most musicians in south africa used midi. it is cheaper, and they dont answer back! no seriously, many places cant afford a full band. usually they hire a solo artist who uses back tracks of some sort.
Been doing the midi thing for about 3 years now, and yeah have to find good midi files, all mastered thru Sonar using hypercanvas and onto minidisc, can't beat it
