    use anvil studio

i use anvil as a sequencer and as a converter. with anvil you can open wav files, midi, and karaoke. karaoke is similar to midi only that is has lyrics... i guess you already know that. so to cut the long story short... once you opened a karaoke file you could save it as a MIDI (anvil studio call it a "Song" file).

    try it at www.anvilstudio.com

i hope that's the web address. it's free though its a big download

Can't you just right click on a mid file and rename it as kar?

KAR files are expected to contain lyrics. 99.9% of standard MIDI files do not contain lyrics, therefore they should not be classified as KAR files.

Save the file and rather than using .MID, use .KAR .
