I'm a beginner and I need to know how to make midi files.. I would like to convert mp3 to mid, but I hear you can't do that. If you can that would be great, but I doubt it... What are the best programs to make midis and how do I convert songs that I like to midi files? I would like to make midis.. I need some help learning how to make them though.. can anybody help?

Zach, it's not a waste of time to check back to see if anyone's answered your question. that's the whole idea of this forum. that's the point of asking in the first place

Sorry, no magical MP3 to midi converters! If you find one let me know ;) You can start by using something like Cakewalk of Cubase to make midi files.

    use cakewalk

there's a great software called "cakewalk"
it is great for music composers.
You can enter sheet music manually by mouse or just play it on instruments which links to ur computer.

Cakewalk has got to be the best for a beginner.

I know this is unrelated but can I just say when I read this thread (particularly lostdave's comment) I just laughed so hard the other people in the library were staring at me. Love this message board. Info and entertainment. I never seem to get enough.
