As a resident of Southern Louisiana, I would like to ask everyone reading this to say a little prayer for our safety. Hurricane Ivan is approaching Alabama and Mississippi, and will affect most of our country's lower states. Flordia has been devastated by two big hurricanes just in the past month. Thanks!

Absolutely! If anyone's familiar with the area of the US this is hitting you know that from the Panhandle over to New Orleans the coast and some ways inland is from 10 to 20 some feet below sea level. The storm is currently being billed as the storm of the century and follows another immense storm which set all sorts of weather records since recorded history. This storm is bigger than that storm. I have been through a few small hurricanes but if I were there now I'd be one of the 3 million or so evacuating... the 40 foot swells 160 miles in diameter and possible 50 foot waves would be enough to convince me to take a lil' holiday... I heard that in Moblil they asked for a minimum of 10,000 body bags just because some folks were sticking it out... they are expecting these folks are going to drown. I hope you are on high ground there at least... or that something occurs to throw it off course or some cool air to slow it down... you can never tell with these things what it will actually do... let's hope it doesn't kill too many more than it already has. This is the third big storm but now there's Jeanne right behind... it's just one after another! Anyway, listen to what the experts are telling you and leave if you can.

You don't have any bitter ex boyfriends workin' for the weather bureau do you who might have a say in the naming of storms?

Well, actually it has veered off from Lousiana focusing more to the east... let's hope those folks get through this one. Another big one coming this way though... :ah:

Zel, if Jeanne begins headin' your way you know what to do?! ;)

I'm up in PA and we got tons of rain from it. We flooded a bit. I have a friend down in New Orleans. Thankfully everything is fine there now.
