I'm sorry to keep a silly debate going but is there anyone, sorry, real musician that thinks this contest is worthwhile.

It's just ridiculous that people watch this rubbish and take it seriously. Let me say sorry to anyone that has taken part and fair play for doing so but if you take yourself seriously as a musician then do something credible not like Dave "Eh Eh" Fanning selling out and telling these people that they are talented.

It's not the type of show where you're going to see any talented rock musicians...it's for the Eurovision so it's going to be just as cheesy :) . I'm not a fan of Fannings but i suppose he has to sell the show....he can't tell them all that they're crap !

Hhehe.... I haven;t been an "idol" (American) watcher until this time around... sheer boredom I guess ;)... And I've found its much more fun to watch it whilst chatting with 1 or 2 of my instant message list who enjoy mock...errr... critiquing the contestants as much as I

Yes I have to say it is dire!! There is so much great talent in Ireland and this is the best they come up with. It's great viewing if only to see who get put off!!

Wellllllllllll... even on American Idol... I can pretty well predict the Yay's and Nay's before the 3 famous folk do... but they TOOK a bunch of people that I wouldna!! I think that they take some folks who are "unique" or "showy" in that forst and second round even if thier sense of pitch doesn't exactly... errrmmmm.... fit the standard definition?

Just so there is someone to film getting cut that we care about...

C'mon you have got to say both these shows are hilarious,
people go on these shows thinking they actually have talent.
In american idols case theyve trawled the country looking for mildly retarded people to sign upfor it. Granted some of those guys and gals can sing but for the most part they are complete psychos.

As for your a star........ None of them have any talent whatsoever, they are the bland of the bland.
And as for dave fanning.........he loves them all, everybody is great.
As per usual we irish are too damn nice to peoples faces,

    Ireland England
    Gay byrne to Chris Tarrant
    Dave Fanning to Simon Cowell
