I have used the Cakewalk product line starting with Pro Audio 7,8,9 and Sonar 1 and 2 (Now 2.2) and will upgrade to Sonar 3.

The upgrade policy is a bit expensive and I think that Cakewalk should treat existing customers a bit better.

Since I pay almost as much for the upgrade as it codts from a music store, I guess i should be able to sell the older copies!

Sonar is fast, stable and can do just about anything you would want to do.

This has nothing do with sequenses, but if you love to play along with any kind of music and want to have great tools for that + a lot of god tracks take a look at http://guitarport.com/ This is an awsome toy for guitarists who want the best sound for low price. Sounds great in recordings aswell.

i use Cakewalk Home Studio 2000 (after using Express and SOng Station) and find it to be the best. I've tried Cubase but i still have found after using about 50 other midi programs, its the most versitile (for my purposes any way)

...Cakewalk Home Studio is no longer available as a demo. I looked everywhere but the warez sites. If you want to trudge through the filth in attempt to obtain an illegal copy of the product, start at http://www.crackfind.com/ .

    try this http://www.midi.ru/programs.htm

it has some cool programs for sequencers, notation, etc...

I'm using CWPA 9, and serves most of my needs for midi, and to insert wave file too as part of the sequencing.

I'm sorry; I have looked everywhere, but they are only on software bundle compact discs.

So what are some of the major differences between Digital Performer and cakewalk?

Cakewalk is easy to use and people who have learned it's interface generally stick to cakewalk. Cubase is supposed to be more powerful, but it's hard to leave cakewalk when you've relied on it and are very comfortable with it. Just pick one or the other and work with it. Cubase users generally don't work with Cakewalk and vice versa.
