Dumb question, but what do you think? I have always loved the guitar. I am in my thirties now and I would like to learn. I should admit that I have zero musical ability.

Yeah-age don't matter. you can learn anything if you put your mind to it. My uncle is in his fourties and hes just taken up piano! He's loving it cuz it satisfies him-as long as you get pleasure out of it its ALL GOOD.

A guitar becomes your release after a shit day at work!
The only right pace to learn anything , is the pace that suits you.

Go for it! Just remember, what you put in is what you'll get out at the end.

Starting at 30, you'll probably never play like Steve Vai, but who cares? Playing guitar is a real good release for all of life's frustrations, and with a bit of practice you'll be entertaining your friends and neighbors in no time!

I started at 22 (5 years ago.) And though I'll never play to a crowd of thousands, I think I may have my first stage appearance next week. Wish me luck!

Never too late. I'm in my late 30's and just started playing bass a few months ago.

I work as a guitar teacher at a music store, and we have a surprising number of people in their thirties, forties & fifties taking up lessons in guitar, piano & drums - mostly because they've 'always wanted to'. Remember - desire overcomes all else, if you want to learn bad enough you WILL make progress.

No sorry, you're too late - the deadline for starting was age 25...

    :D

Seriously, go for it. Just be patient and don't expect to become a master overnight.

I've been playing since I was 10 (I'm 19 now). My older brother (age 26) started playing a couple years ago, and he's nearly caught up with me. And I've been teaching one of our mutual friends (age 27) for a year now. He's already playing in a band and has played his first amateur concert recently.

If you want to be a worldclass musician, you have to start early.

But if you just want to play for fun, it's never too late :)

It's never too late to start learning
something. Especially learning to play the guitar. try it out. if it's fun, you' re half way
    through it.
