    That was quick...

Quick replies round here.. cool... Well, what I ment is what kinda software and hardware is used or reccommended to make a good quality midi. Of course with a moderate price. Just want to make it for fun. Not go all out and buying expensive equipment. Is there like a small program that's good to download? What's well reccommended? Thanks.

You need a MIDI keyboard, a MIDI cable (if it didn't already come with the keyboard), and MIDI software. I use a keyboard that came with a kit that was supposed to teach you how to play piano. You can also buy them at music stores (I don't know of any major chains). For software, I use Noteworthy Composer [http://www.noteworthycomposer.com], which is shareware, but it still works great.

Another option, if you're not interested in buying a MIDI keyboard, is a product from Coda [http://www.makemusic.com], such as PrintMusic, or Notepad Plus.

    u dont need a keyboard

all u need is a midi editing program and a mouse

theres heaps of free programs out there, but the 3 best are Logic Audio, Cakewalk and Cubase and there are ways of getting one of these for free too.

    anyway good luck

You might want to try out Cakewalk's Home STudio for starters.

You need a good ear, midi editing software and a soundcard (at least). If you can play keyboard, a midi keyboard will help because then you can record to a midi file directly from the keyboard.
If you're a guitarist like me though (no midi guitar) you can just enter the notes from the computer keyboard.
Takes a lot of time and patience though, cos you've got to listen to the track you're sequencing over and over again. This is where the good ear helps! Another way is to get some sheet music and just enter the notes from the sheet into the midi file.
I normally do drums first, then bass, then keys/guitar.

If you use Cakewalk as a sequencer program do you have to have something called 'Virtual Piano' to be able to do the sequencing? My version of Cakewalk (free of course) didn't come with the program. Any help on this?

OK, piano roll. Yeah, I've got that. I'll have to experiment with it. Very tedious work though, I guess until you get used to it. Thanks voice of god.

I use noteworthy composer to make all my midi files. It's a note by note sequencing program so it takes forever to do but I like the results. I think that what makes a midi sound better or worse is how much effort you put in to it. Not the program itself.

for an example of one of my midis go to www.ukbritney.tv the Bombastic love Midi (both) and the anticipating and the boys midis are mine. I'm at school now or I'd upload them myself

    oops!... bells 'bout to ring

    thanks
