Does anyone know a good MIDI catalog/search/sort program?

My karaoke files grow in number so fast I'd like to have some way of organizing them.

    What are you guys/gals using?

    Here is what I do:

Made myself a clear naming convention as in artist - titel.kar

Use magic File renamer to put all these files in the right case, no extra spaces etc. (mostly done by HAND!! :borg: ) AND change the date to the date I updated them

Copy all the Kar files in one directory, and decide by filesize whether to overwrite them or not.

Sometimes I extract a "top 100" from these (approx. 9000) files and distribute them amongst related karaoke friends.

    AND IT"S A HARD JOB.

Sorry, so far I found nothing else then put them in a Access database, and that was even worse.

Found an alternative? please, let me know!:)

    Thanks for your reply :)

I decided to do it myself and am actually in the process of creating a program that will scan directories for *.kar and *.mid files (so far I decided on Artist_Name_-_Song_Name.kar file format) everytime the program is started (eliminating database entires etc) and allow users to sort by artist name or song name as well as allow for direct link to your fave karaoke player so the song can start automatically.

I'll post some screenshots of the interface if anyone wants to see it.

    Sounds like a winner woocash...
I've gone about it the hard way too - using namewiz to keep them in line with my naming scheme (artist - title.mid or .kar)
Huge pain in the ass. Please do keep us updated - I'm sure there are plenty of people who wouldn't mind beta testing or whatnot.

I'm still working on it, but it seems like there's quite an interest in this. I'll post the interface as soon as I stop debuging on it...
I decided to add extra categories (by language - rench', 'Spanish', 'Italian' etc, as well as 'Duets' and 'TV/Movie Themes').

I'd be definitely interested in people wanting to try it out and giving me some feedback...

    Later,

I've seen that karaoke catalog you're talking about here - didn't really like it much. Good call though, probably someone else will...
