I've found with some professionlly made midi files that they fade out at the end as per the original recording.

It is a pain performing live and the song fades, I would prefer that it played right thru and then I could simply cut the end off the song at the appropriate bar.

What is encoded within the midi file to cause the file to fade? Anyone know what causes the fade out? I'm guessing it's something in the event list.

I'm using Cakewalk Pro Audio 7 and Magix Midi Studio for editing my files.

These are CC#7 events. You're already on the right track, just open the file in the event list and remove them.

    Thank you so much Graeme,

I opened a file with cakewalk pro audio 7 and then opened the events list as you said, I couldn't find a data entry CC#7 but I did find one's in green called "11-expression" deleted these and voila, no fadeout

    Thanks again

My bad - I should have remembered CC#11 - although it's incorrect to use this to control level in this way, they really should be CC#7's.

Nevermind - at least you got there.
