Midi percussion

    Has anyone ever had any software successfully transcribe percussion into midi format? Tried it once w/Cakewalk 9.0 - not great results...

    nah!

    ive noticed all drum sounds on midi files sound the same...are there any ways of changin this?

    on the program i use (anvil studio) the drum stuffs pretty cool ;)

    If by 'transcribe' you mean converty an audio file into midi, then you're out of luck. It's not possible to do this.

    On the other hand, if you mean 'transcribe' in its correct definition, then you can simply use step editing to enter the required drums from the music.

    You have two options - a different sound generator (hardware midi module or software) or judicious EQ'ing and FX when rendering to audio.

    Most generators have more than one drumkit, what are you using?
