Voice is not a capability of the General MIDI specifications. You might want to try looking into SoundFont if you card has an EMU-10Kx engine.

Were you not referring to lyrics in your first post in this thread?

MIDI does not store audio data. Period.

I know what you are asking and saying. I load midi or a kar file into Myriad Software and their Virtual Singer will take lyrics if they are hidden in midi or exposed in kar files and sing the song phonetically and on pitch. The musical staff the lyrics are associated to is sometimes called voice depending on the song.
Not many midi will have hidden lyrics but nearly all kar do. Karaokee or kar is really midi with lyrics attatched. You can listen to it here without downloading all the software to try for free if you want. www.myriad-online.com/enindex.htm go to the 4th product down called Virtual Singer and click the link, from that page below Virtual Singer description are mp3 files for you to listen to. Below that is Real Singer samples. I can't begin to tell you the myriad.. no pun intended. of the features included. The songs your hear are exactly like if you loaded midi karaokee in. The instruments sound better too because of the software. Those are real voice samples being put together by virtual singer, and real music instrument audio files being rendered into songs. from midi type stuff. and the mp3's were made by the midi to mp3 feature in the software! Updates are free for the software. They could get $250 or more for this software easily. But you know if they advertised like others do they would have to. They go by word of mouth. WIsh others would investigate their software as I feel like I am the only person in the know.

That's because most of these voice synthesizer programs still use the same model as Soundblaster created 10 years ago. There are really good voice-synthesizers out there these days, but not available for free download :)

Well. I'm sorry if you don't think it's possible. Have a look at http://www.realspeak.com/realspeak/demo/ select dutch (yeah dutch) and enter somethink like this: "Hallo, dit is een demonstratie." The reason you have to take dutch is because realspeak bought the dutch speachsynth from Lernopout & Hausspie which unfortunaterly gone bankrupt. I'm sure there are many english speachsynthesizers as least as good as this one (no, not at realspeak, I know).

PS. I've had courses at university here where they demonstrated a telephone which converted chinese into english and vice-versa so that chinese and english people could converse easily, and that sounded pretty good too.
