Have you had a jam session with some others that was really excellent? Things just clicked, like you had played together for years, especially when you hadn't met before?

Have you ever had a jam session or lessons with one of your music idols?

Ever been approached by someone saying "I heard you play the other night. I'm looking for someone like you to play in my band"

I've been lucky enough to have these experiences.... what about you?

Ahhh! Lots of replies I see..... Well, here is one event that happened to me.
A guitarist advertised in a newspaper to form a band. He wanted a Bass player, drummer, guitarist, singers, keyboard players, sax players. He only got one reply for each of the above instruments ( me... the drummer!!).
We met at his place one day and listened to music we wanted to play. He booked an audition in a studio for all of us.
When we played, it was as if we had been together for years. We performed 4 songs off the cuff. It was an unreal feeling at the time. The gutarist was like Paul Kossof from Free, the singer like John Swan - all great musicians.
We stayed together for about a year and it never changed how well we all played together.

Once played a 24 hour charity Freebird Session. Bout 30 of us did it 4 charity and played the song for the full 24 hours swapping over only to drink and eat. Was the best session ever.

When I was a kid, I always wanted to break the world record for playing the drums for the longest time (last time I saw it was 4 or 5 days). I can only sit behind my kit these days for about 30 minutes... I get a sore :assskake:

After a long day at work, my band buddies met up to jam in a mate's living room, hammond setting on clavinova, bass guitar, two guitarist and drums. All went well - we did the usual set and for some reason somebody started doing a funky little rhythm -guitar i think. Bassist took this up and started doing a funky strutting bass thing and the the hammond swept in - after lots of fast dancy bits and slower bits, modulating keys, bass drum and alternating guitar solos, quite minimalist bits etc. i started to feel something on my foot. I looked down at my strumming and and noticed that i had taken all the skin of my knuckles through fast frenetic funky strumming and blood was dripping from the open sores onto my right foot. A fine spray of red speckles covered the scratch plate strings and body of the guitar - i hadn't felt a thing! I stopped, and felt an overwhelming fatigue, thirst and a full bladder. After checking the time we realised that we had played one continuous track for about 3 and a half hours. We was totally shagged out and amazed! Never has time warped so much in one song (except echoes by pink floyd).
we all went down to the golden grill and had greasy burgers and coke to recover strength!

I played guitar for 14 hours straight about a month ago. That's a personal record. Previously 12 hours.

I mentioned this in another thread but we were playing recently and some of the members of Bon Jovi walked in. Richie Sambora signed my guitar but it came off after a few days ...ah well !
