    Hi guys,

I've got a midi which is a medley of old rock songs. There's a silly drum solo in the middle which i would like to delete. I don't just mean the notes but a chunk of the track itself, which would mean cutting a similar chunk from the other tracks in the midi.

I use Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 or Cakewalk Pro audio 9

    Grateful for any help,
    Thanks

just select all the tracks and use the scissors to cut(alltracks) - at the start of the drum solo and at the and of the drum solo then select the bit u want deleted(all tracks) and delete using the eraser

if u cant follow that pm me the file and let me know exactly which section u want deleted and I'll do it

Just post the track here and I'll take out what you don't want. Otherwise download jazz 32 from www.jazzware.com
It shows the full tracks and you can cut xactly what you want out. Give it a go, it's especially good for getting rid of those crappy fade out endings.

Thanks for the help guys. I tried highlighting all tracks and then cutting the part i don't want but it just deletes the notes and not the actual track so i get about 12 seconds of silence before the music starts again. Maybe i'm doing something wrong, i'll try again tonight.

Yeah Ronny those fade out endings have ruined many a good midi

well you're halfway there.... sort of

I dont understand why it didnt delete the track??

ok start again - as soon as you open the file, do the cutting in that window(where you can see all the tracks), then highlight the section that you've cut either side of(all tracks)(with the pointer tool) then press delete or use the eraser and the highlighted section should disappear

then you are left with a gap that you have cut out, simply highlight all tracks after the gap and holdclick and drag that section left till it meets with the other section

then youll have to glue them together, let me know if this works for ya

If I'm reading what you want to do correctly you want to remove a section of track from 'all tracks' and then paste the ends together so it is seamles. This is how I do it. First select all tracks and then drag across the top selecting the numbered measures that you want to delete. Then you simply have to choose edit>cut and select 'delete hole' when the window prompt pops up and then select 'OK". Hope this helps.
