How much sheet music do you need.
I think it's even more useful to develope
the ability to play by ear.

It is not hard, I think

    Hello!

I think it is not hard, cos if you practise you can get used, but I agree - it is ber to play by ear! Sheet music is good to play exactly as song was written but it doesnt alow you to variate. So simple things!

I hope you can read the tab!
    Look:

    E|---2---------
    A|--------2----
    D|-------------
    G|-------------

so you need to go from F# to B
you want to make it better

    E|---2---------
    A|------4---2-
    D|-------------
    G|-------------

so now you go F# to C# and then to B. It sounds beter! It is done so Just pres 2 freets farther and one string higer. You get some extra tone what always fits.

And sheet music NEVER tells that!

So tray to play by ear, but devalope ypur scill reading sheet music!

    best regards - Ansius

    sheet music

    hey drscti,

its a good idea to start learning to read sheet music when you are new to guitar as you'll find it helps you when you get round to musical theory. There are lots of references for sheet music on the net, also get yourself a metronome this will help you with your timing. The advantage of sheet music is that not only do you get the music, but the exact timing, good stuff. Overall its a good idea to start now! :)
