Aah.. I'm back in Space Mountain! Nice work! Extend the tracks and increase the adrenaline-induction padding, and I'll hop in for another ride.

    Great track Zel

I would call it more 'trance' than 'techno'...

Pump up the tempo a bit and it will give it more of a techno beat!

Hey, thanks Zan and Allie. ;)

I mainly wanted to know whether anyone liked where it was headed. I'll be adding more to it as time permits.

Allie, it sounds like I need a genre definition lesson. Are you game? ;)

    I think it sound great!!!
I particularly like panning in Trancy tracks so you could add a bit for me

Lesson No 1:*heads to cd cabinet*
Trance is considered (by the fans) as having more soul than techno, where anyone can get a fast beat going, trance requires a more melodic approach.... that's my opinion anyways

... don't know if you can d/l these artists, but *hands Zel cd's*
Juno Reactor is pretty typical techno (while still not being too commercial)

Where as I love trancy tracks by:
    The Irresistable Force
    The Orb
    Intermix
...and the list could go on for quite a while
*notices Zel's arms getting quite full*

Added a bit - another minute or so. Needs tweakage, but it's coming along.

(Thanks for the lesson Allie! Still studying it... I think you'll find a little panning now... :p )

Okay, further expansion. Yes, it's a bit weird. I've added some XG dependent effects, so if you get to a part that sounds blah, it's probably because your device doesn't support envelope adjustment parameters (cc71-74). I'll post a link to an MP3 when I'm done so all will be clear. ;)

Until I get the kinks worked out of my rendering process, my MP3s will sound muddy. Anyway, here's a rendering of the file on my Yamaha S-YXG50:

    (right click, save as...)
    TechnoRide.mp3

It has potential if I could get the mud out. ;)

Edit: I just realized the MP3 rendered out as mono. It kinda ruins the depth of sound and panning... :damn: I'll have to get that fixed sometime soon...

Edit 2: Okay, I got the mono/stereo problem sorted. Now for the clipping...

Now in stereo... (sorted my rendering problem :) , still have to muck with levels, mix, etc.)
    TechnoRide.mp3

And thanks for that thought, Sulfu...

Excellent rendition. It starts getting really funky at 2:45... I had to stop my work to figure if that was really coming from a MIDI or from a Shoutcast station!

Thanks, Zandro. :) Yup, that's where I started tweaking envelope parameters and taking liberty with the wheel... ;) (The phasing in the MIDI won't be audible on any non-Yamaha equipment, I think. But you knew that. :D )

Yeah, acknowledged. :) This is how it sounds on my 64MB home-made synth ZSF. (Can't get this file to stream for some reason. :damn: ) No phasey stuff here unfortunately, due to the fact the even SoundFont 2.01 does not support it. It still sounds fit to be among the best music I keep in my collection, however!

NICE! A few of these effects I didn't even know could be done with midi. Not bad at all.
