Thanks very much for the comments and suggestions, MOTE! :) You're right about the depth of artistry available with all the MIDI parameters. If one is willing to do the work, it is possible to make some amazing creations.

One of the tricky parts, I find, is to know when a particular parameter will be effective in achieving a certain sound. Some are almost always generally useful, like Pan, Reverb, Chorus, Modulation, Expression. Others are more tricky to use effectively, like envelope parameter adjustments, harmonic effects, NRPNs, etc.

As for the particular points you made, I agree some use of volume variation and expression controllers might make the sequence even more effective. I may make some modifications. :)

In which part did you find the percussion overbalanced? On relistening, I didn't find anything to particularly stand out. Perhaps a difference in output equipment or synth? I try to be somewhat sensitive to balance issues, but also almost always at some point consider a sequence "done enough", and drop it. :)

Thanks again for your comments, they are always appreciated!

Midi is certainly something you have to play with, after about 6 months of Midi; I just had to buy a Midi keyboard, and discovered I could do all kinds of things. You just have to play with it. For example try to make the sound of an airplane diving, and dropping bombs. It easy once you know how. If you can here the music in you head, you can emulate it in Midi fairly close, Like my song Whales Call, (it’s postin in my Midi feedback request) I managed to get the whales to sing. So play with the controls, and keep em coming…….

His MIDI is a mix of techno, trance and dance. That does not necessarily mean the styles are the same.

Great track! As an avid techno listner I would agree you need to add some soul to the track but this is an awesome effort!
