I have a Yamaha soundmodule (MU80) which I try to connect to my PC running on XP.

I connect the midicable to my COM-port but I don't receive any input signals to my sequenser program (Cubasis 3.0).

I was told I didn't have to install any drivers but maybe I have to change some settings.

Does anyone have a clue what could possibly be the problem?

COM port? Are you sure you are doing this right?

The MU80 is a hardware sound module (early version of of an XG module). It takes the midi output stream from your sequencer (from the midi out port) and converts this to audio for you to listen to. It is not intended to send signals to your computer, rather, the other way around.

run your sequencer, connect a cable between the computer midi out pot to the MU80 midi in port and connect the audio output of the MU80 to your monitoring system. That should result in some noises :) .
