My biggest problem with Gadd's Jazz playing is
    > the HORRIBLE studio sound on the drums. Hid drums sound like cardboard

    boxes.

Schuh, if you spent half as much time in the woodshed practicing as you did
grabbing your dick and challenging people to butch up whatever the hell that
means, you wouldn't be so bloody easy to make fun of. Do you even know
    where the one is?

This is freaking poetry! Funnt shit!

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what is for lunch. Liberty is
a well armed lamb protesting the vote."

The truly hilarious thing about Schuh's constant alienating of everyone
is that he's shooting himself in his own damn-fool foot. The people that
read this group are, as disheartening as this sounds, his peers....the
only people that would give a passing thought to (making the big mistake
of) buying a recording that he somehow happened to end up on. He
honestly doesn't understand that NOBODY likes him. Plus, he can't
play...I've heard him numerous times. He plays like an idiot. And he
doesn't swing. At any rate, rave away, Schuh....pretty soon you'll find
out how smart your maneuverings really are.

You're is a spot on observation. But, he's been doing this here for years here
and will undoubtedly do it for years more. Very unlikely that the situation
    will change.

I can't disagree with you on the cardboard box analogy -- it's true.
He definitely gets a fairly "dead" sound. Funny, when I was playing in
rock bands in high school, the worst thing you could say about a
drummer's kit was that it sounded like cardboard boxes. For some
reason, though, when it comes to Gadd, it works for me.

I guess it depends on the *kinds* of boxes. ;-)

What I really like about his straight-ahead playing is the way he
messes with time. He does all kinds of off-the-wall syncopations,
really ratcheting up the tension and release and making you feel like
you're on a roller coaster ride. I find it much more electrifying than
a lot of standard bebop drumming.
