Howdy all, I sadly discovered yesterday after removing my kit from
the truck that the kick drum's wrap is begining to .... warp and looks
like it is lifting. Has anyone else had this happen? the kit it
nearly 2 years old. The floor tom is just begining to show the same
signs. I've always had the kit in my liv. room. although it sits
near a large window, the glass has UV protection on it. This last
week is the first time I've moved it to someone else's studio.
Maybe it was already happening and I just didn't see it before? Now
what do I do? Any and all input appreciated.......
    Tara
  2. Contact DW and explain the situation, I know they would like to have
feedback on issues such as this.

  3. It is very thin wrap and most likely taped, not glued. the solution will be
to glue a much higher quality thicker laminate. DW might warranty this.

There is no "Japanese" Pacific kit. The series and origins are:

    LX lacquer/Mexico
    CX wrapped/Mexico
    FS Satin Stain/China
    EZ wrapped/Taiwan

Regardless...Tara should visit/contact his or her nearest Pacific dealer to
explore the possibility of the drums being fixed or replaced.
  5. Actually this kit was made in Taiwan and since it is only 3 years old would
be covered under warranty. I sent this message to DW and they should be
    contacting Tara about warranty..

  6. I had this happen to one of my cheapo kits. Basically the
problem with mine was I left it in my truck for a while
on a hot summer day. As Drumguru points out here all the
time: Thin wrap + taped + hot day = bubbles! In my case
when the kit cooled down the bubbles more or less went away.
I sold the kit rather than deal with the problem. UV light
isn't the problem. It's more likely heat. The plastic wrap
expands more than the shell does, hence the bubbles. As many
have suggested here, contact DW about the problem. (especially
if the bubbles don't appear to go away when the kit is
    not in the heat.
