I'm fairly new to Midi, but I have a pretty broad IT, Programming and A/V background. I'm looking to provide a solution that would play recordings of a church bells on a scheduled basis. We had a custom-made solution but it was 55 years old and has failed. I'd like to have this start at various times for 10 minutes (let's say from 9:50 am to 10:00 on Sunday morning).
I've been looking at an Akai MPX8 to store and play the tunes. It has MIDI input and output capabilities. I'm wondering if there's a device that could act as a timer to send a message to the Akai MPX8 on a specific scheduled and play a specific tune.
I suppose I could use a windows laptop with MIDI software to accomplish this, but that seems a little clunky. Is there any kind of stand-alone timer / scheduler that would be able to do this? Any direction you may have for this would be appreciated.
Many thanks for looking at this.
