Why not try updating your printer software and/or drivers?

The computer just dies and needs to be rebooted each time it crashes? Could be an issue with the printer software... perhaps removing it and re-installing it before connecting it to the computer... and it only does it with this program? You might try calling tech support at HP... as was mentioned earlier any information other than what we have already would help... it could be a couple of things, however...

Perhaps it is a deficiency of power. Try unplugging two or more peripheral devices before you send the command for the printer.

    thank you all.
we sorted out the problem after soooooooooooooooooooo much hassle.
it turned out that the printer was fine... after a month of trying some of the above suggestions and more. we finally took our computer in and discovered that it was sheer bad luck.
the mother board was incompatable with the printer.
hope this helps someone else and prevents months of frustrations.

now its heaven to click a button and it works beautifully.

She solved the problem a while ago. It was a motherboard issue. Thanks anyway for the help.
