No, the incognito days are best left unvisited.

Before I started visiting RAP, I knew I wasn't making the best possible
recordings with the gear I had. I needed to learn how to use it and what
parts to upgrade for maximum benefit. 90% of what I've learned from RAP
(e.g. what an 1176 is) I'll never use in my recording efforts. The other
10% has radically improved every step from load in to graphics on the
    production CD.

The transition from Gulf Joe to Carey was around the pivot point on the
    curve.

    Understood!!

BTW: Just have to tell you something about my finger.......
When I mentioned it sometime ago (which you seem to remember so
    vividly!)
I must have been half asleep when I typed that message!! Or just too
early in the morning and not enough coffee. Or, it could have been not
enough sleep. I don't remember, BUT...from being around kids most of
my life, they rubbed off on me a bit and what I ment to say was "PULL
my finger" NOT smell my finger!! My mistake. I know you won't let me
    live it down.

I been reading rap since about 1998. And, I am sold. My order is going
in today or tommorrow. May get 2-3. (as gifts)
"Yes, peace". I sometimes word my expressions wrong, sorry. Like
"Offended", I wasn't offended, just looked and said to myself.. (WTF
is all this?) not a big deal really and I jumped the gun before I
    really understood, I guess I got a tad self-centered. 955 or the
regular folks here are excellent, I have never met anyone, mostly,
never really cared about that. I look at this group for information.
And I get it. And, now I "HAVE" to get the RAP cd's in order to
    understand fully. ;p

Offended was not the correct wording. I know now I was being an ass. I
am jumpin on the bus.....cd's will be ordered.

I don't need time or energy to be offended. I am offended by the
people that are offended. And "that" really offends me. lol
  5. So am I. And for all practical purposes, the ensuing conversation IS the
review, not just Carey's portion. I'd like to thank Carey for intiating
these threads because it needed to be done. A lot of people take these CDs
as if they are some money making proposition and therefore may not contain
the obvious high quality of music and the expertise expressed in their liner
notes. Maybe some people just don't get real world application as opposed
to theory or limited experience and don't want to get it. Whatever reason
people use NOT to buy the Fifth of RAP CD probably just don't realize what a
true resource it is. It's pretty easy to see where the fuck you sit on the
food chain when you're forced to realize that there are a whole lot of great
engineers, producers and musicians out there, and everybody really does have
    a vision.

But you have to realize, Hank is a verbal predator. He'll chew 'em up and

his shit in little balls. Those who read these lines of wit, eats those

And I mean that in a good way, Hank!

And by the way, the reason for pointing out Hank is the following post

  19. Nah. Easy for me to say. Remember, no matter how many times you guys
listen to this compilation you won't have the same number of hours as me.
Which is why I don't feel it correct for me to comment on them. I had to
look at them as songs, as songs that may not work where they started,
balance of song to song, etc., plus listen to the overall progression of the
compilation discs. So my first comments would be a year old now, and as to
my following comments, no one else will have attained that much time in
    listening.

But I will say this. I still listen to it about once a month now.
