RAP5 - reviews - Hre, ot there ?

Discussion in 'rec.audio.pro' started by Geoff Wood, Aug 23, 2003.

  1. I don't know if one can get that efficient! But now that I've thought about
it, I'd say your statement went just about as far into American society
today as one statement could possibly go.

Truly amazing statement and I mean that. Fuck, I may have a new quote for
    my sig.

  2. Tsk! You know better, Romeo, and you know it from having been here before
when there were a lot of our respected posters previous to their exodus,
primarily due to cheap computers going to kids and subsequent theft of music
problems, or castigating every qualified person we had without so much as
knowing a thing about them. So don't blame the guys who have hung on here
because we do so. Blame it on them, perhaps, because they didn't.

Only, our lives seem to go in the same type of circles, so it makes sense
that we stay here and offer what we can, and bantering or arguing, as case
may have it. It also takes some time to get newer people be more specific
in questions, more info on systems, etc. It's catching on again and
ultimately some younger guys will point out the necessity of a good
question. But I don't believe any of the problem threads a reason to get
distracted by other "off topic" topics because everyone can pretty much
ignore the threads they don't want to read.

I agree with the statement, in paraphrase, "The RAP CD discussions are so
relative to RAP as to be synonymous." These recordings ARE RAP at it's
best. Who knows, you may be instrumental in someone else's development or
career path by the wisdom of your words or the quality of your sound! <g>
Worse things have happened! I mean, it ain't, "Damn, I really wanted that
little fart to fail" or anything. You know, as we wind ourselves through
all this time we have, right now is the time that more people can have an
effect on what's happening around us, whether it be a political discussion
or a debate on normalization (no, not of marijuana). This is the one place
and the one method that offers people sage advice for nothing on a wide
range of topics. Nothing's unknown everywhere, and there are more than
enough places to express it. Here, sometimes it's a trial. Sometimes I'm
part of that trial for someone else (hmmm).

But after all that, it's plain and simple selflessness in answering
questions and not wanting anything more than someone to get what you're
    saying.

  3. Well, the concept Carey was working on was to get feedback from others on
his views. Somewhat that happened, but mostly it was the reviewee that
responded. However, a few did make it to thread length and again offered
sage advice, wonderings and ignorance of the existence of the compilation
CD. This CD is us. It's what we represent as ourselves and our work to the
general public on this newsgroup. It's either a step up for some that may
not have had this level of listening before, or it could just as easily make
us feel like we don't know shit (just a feeling, it will pass! <g>).

And hell, if all 90 involved posted their reviews, it would last months and
be well worth it. How not? Wouldn't this be exactly the reason you come
    here?

I'm going up north for the long weekend, but I promise next week I am
going to start adding my 2 cents worth to Carey's reviews. I think
everyone should give it a shot. As mentioned, this really fits into the
    real purpose of r.a.p.
