You have to mail a request, then they send you the midi file. Some
strange idea that this makes it ok to distribute copyright stuff.

I guess it stops their isp shutting the site for actually storing
    copyright material.

Well Laurence pity you don't know your facts first all midis are
copywritten to me and 95% written by me and not on cubase should you
have taken the time to find out why well you would have found out that
I have a 10 mb site and 71 mb of midis therefore I ask for emails If
you want a song you will email but you haven't heard a song on my site
so how can you say they are not copywritten
    thank you Laurence

Quote from Heather's site (through the link to the "Other Site"):

    >Click Here for a list of FREE midi and Lyric files

    > Please sign the guest book I have lots of Midi Files and Lyrics so request a file
    >Due to copyright restrictions Email a request and I will send it back
    >to you

The songs appear to be current popular songs, subject to copyright.
Whether the midi files are homegrown or not is irrelelevant I think?

Just how listening to a song would reveal its copyright status escapes
    me:)

Heather mailed me privately, complaining about my post. I returned
apologies if I'd been over-rude. But I stand by my statement that
she seems confused over copyright. And make the point that sites
appearing to offer something for free, then requiring "registration"
or another ploy to get your email address are usually harvesting
    addresses for spam.

    Oh, go on! Stick around.
Don't let one whinging Pom scare you off :)

Though alt.music.midi might be a better place to display your wares.
This group is more angled at technical midi problems.

No ploy or plot to get spam addresses all I want to do is share my
hobby making midi files and share them with anyone who wishes to ask
for them I have stated to you via email and will post here that I have
the copyright with apra here in australia and they are 95% written by
me and registered I only wished you had found that out however you
have destroyed my faith in this forum and I have decided no more
posting for me I just wanted to use the site to advertise my site as I
wasn't getting much traffic I get nothing out of the site and just
wanted to share my wares for free no registration no nothing just a
plain share thing that I am sorry to say has made me very wary of the
net and some users I still stand by my statement and say you should
have informed yourself first.. so anyone else please who may like a
midi that I have and hold copyright to please email me for a request

You might get more response to your site if the email link pointed to
    the right address :)

What are we fighting about? Our last email exchange was perfectly
civil. I'm just pointing out that the link on your (new) page is to:
    heather7@qc.quik.com.au
which doesn't appear to work. Shouldn't it be
    heather@gq.quik.com.au ?

    Yup. Just tried again.

The link on your site sends mail to heather7@qc.quik.com.aus
    This address bounces.
You should have received my test mail to heather7@gc.quik.com.aus
    which I think is correct.

Can't you see I'm being HELPFUL, my dear little wombats? :)

Which just proves I, too, can mistype :)

    Latest update.

I've received an email confirming they received my test messages, and
Heather and/or David have corrected the mail address on their site.

They didn't say "Thank-you" and tell me they're blocking further
    messages from me.

    Nice people!

Actually, the midifiles freely available on their "other site" aren't
    bad.

I tell a lie. There was a perfunctory "thanks" in their message.
    Bye!
