yeah, I've received at least 6 or 7 today. I don't know what's in them.
they'll do nothing to my Linux box and I don't open them anyway; just
chuck 'em right away! but I'm getting sick of receiving them...

Same here. They all come to a canceled address in
my band's domain. Since I'm the admin, I get all
of them. The common factor with the messages were
that they all came to the same canceled account.
So, I set up a rule to mark them as read and
    delete them.

I was getting over 100 in 30-minutes. The web
host can't stop them since is't a virtual host
account, all email to the Plesque server would be
blocked. To solve the problem, I reinstated the
email address and gave it a 1kb storage limit.
Now, all the messages bounce back with a 'mailbox
full' error and I never see them.

Not sure if the problem will taper off or not.

My email provider filters incoming mail for spam & viruses. So far it's
caught this one about 25 times since yesterday.

I haven't had a virus on my computer in 3 years. And for the past month or
two I haven't received any bogus virus attached e-mails so I must be
extremely lucky. I see tons of people complaining about the latest slew of
viruses and yet sit back and wonder why I don't get them. I haven't even
had the need to have any anti-virus software on my computer, nor a firewall
    for around 2.5 years.

Being a past college student that took Computer Networking & Technical
Support Specialist for two years I learned what to open and not. Just don't
be retarded and open things you don't recognize and your fine. I'll still
    knock on wood though.

Some of these latest viruses (last week's pain in the ass, for instance) get
on your computer in much more subtle ways - you don't have to open an e-mail
attachment to get it. So yes, I'd say you're extremely lucky! :)

Even worse, I'm getting a ton of "returned" mail saying that some of these
messages are coming from *my* system. Although I have everything updated,
run antivirus & firewall software and am fairly certain my system is clean,
I update my AV app and ran a system scan just to make sure. All clean.
Looked at my logs, nothing going out that I'm not sending out. I can tell
that my email address is being spoofed... it's coming from an address that,
technically, no longer exists (and certainly doesn't exist on my system).
Unfortunately, my email from that old address is forwarded to my new addy.

The viral mail is coming from someone who has your old e-mail address in

With the latest viruses going around most symptoms I've had reported back to
me from friends that are infected are that your computer will shut down
every 30 seconds, mail itself, and mess with media files like mp3's, wma's,
    wavs, mpg's, etc...

I know for a fact I'm not infected. I can tell very easily if I'm infected.
I know the way my computer acts and if it even slightly acts different then
I'll be alarmed but for now everything is a ok.

Oh man. Don't you know hubris is followed ineveitably and inexorably
    by nemesis?

Hey. I've been doing computers since the first TUBE univac and
I sure as hell can't tell if there is a virus in there just by
listening! This is especially true of all Windoze crap. I mean
who has any idea? You'll be sitting there not even touching it
and all of a sudden your hard drive goes nuts as Bill Gates starts
rooting around your machine. Who but Bill has any idea what's
going on in there? Me? You? Puleeze!

Yup... and trying to get Comcast to STOP forwarding email from my old
address is pretty much impossible. It seems there are many previous attbi
    users having the same problem.
