    I agree with you guys.

Having to pay money for a MIDI song (.MID) is stupid!

This one time I paid $15 for a 'Pro' quality
MIDI file and it was WORSE than the free amateur song. total rip off!

That's why sites like MIDI Buddy are so great, musicians around the world can
share their songs with each other for free
and that's what it's all about!

I think things should just stay the way they are and be thankful for what is available out on the internet.

    Free Midis

I think its up to the individual as to their preference.
I use them for my own pleasure, so average quality is normally
better than my crappy voice can compete with anyway, but if I
wanted to use them live and make money out of them, I would be happy to buy them.

I totally agree, free is the way it should be. Exchange is even better, kinda makes it all fair...

Free is best, but if someone thinks their MIDIs are that much better (worth paying for) then go for it....

I read in the news the other day that ASCAP has to pay millions as part of a settlement for a price fixing conspiracy. I'm sure I won't see any of that money. But I am getting some of that fortune I paid on LPs and Cds and casettes back now. Understand that is probably only a justification. Still, no recording artist or music executive's kids are going to starve if I share a Pappa Loves Mambo sequence with my buddies.

Some times you have to pay for a rare midi, but imagine how unsurfed this hot site would be if it was all for dollars & cents

Actually I would not want to pay for midis although I think sometimes it would be just fair cause it's a lot of work to make good midi files!

    Hi, I'm new here...

I play professionally as a soloist and get all my files through the internet or whereever I can get them. I bought my initial files years ago and yea some of them were crap. However nearly all my files that I use..(and they have to be good for live performances) have to be solid with plenty of punch..so as long as the basic file is reasonably sound with plenty of information..I tweak it up and edit it to a final solid song. only way to go..a lot of the commercial stuff I hear being solid is pretty tinny...

    I THINK...

those who make money with it should pay for them (like entertainers who use midi files on parties or so)
those who don't make money with them should not pay!!

I thing that some people are making a great job with some midi files. And they spend a lot of time so we can enjoy them.

So it's up to them if they want to give them free or not.

    Thanks

    Hmm, pay for midi's?

If you can use Kazaa or Morpheus to download the song WITH lyrics, why is it wrong to trade for a song WITHOUT lyrics. Out of the two shouldn't the one without be the free one?:boink:
