    Hi all

I'm looking for a recommendation for simple music notation software with midi input an option. My needs are pretty basic, I just want to print out music to play on my saxophone. I haven't been learning for very long, so the music is pretty basic.

I do need to be able to enter notation directly, but would also like to be able to get music for things like UB40s "Food for Thought".

It can either be M$ windoze or Linux based. Really prefer open source on general principle, but must be cheap / free.

    What do folks think?

Cakewalk is really easy to use and can be downloaded for free if you look hard enough.

True, but we try to not promote w@rez in this community ;)

But I do agree that Cakewalk is a wonderful commercial alternative, it's actually what I use too.
